Scholarships
Since 2008, with the intention of supporting brilliant and economically disadvantaged students of Mexican descent, COFEM created the Mexican-American Dream program. The purpose of the program is to promote the importance of higher education among students, particularly AB-540 and DACA recipients, undocumented students, and the members of our federations.
Mexican-American Dream Scholarship

Since 2008, COFEM and its affiliated federations, as well as sponsoring partners, have come together to provide scholarships to outstanding students. These scholarships have helped more than 400 students to complete their degree.

In recent years, the program has delivered over $400,000 in scholarships.
​
Each fall, COFEM invites students of Mexican descent who are also AB-540 and DACA recipients, undocumented, and/or members of its federations to apply for the scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a four-year accredited university or a two-year program at a community college. Through a fundraising and matching collaborative, this scholarship program seeks to award $500 scholarships to community college students and $1,000 to students attending four-year colleges or universities.

The majority of our beneficiaries have struggled financially to reach their goal of pursuing higher education and have faced additional barriers due to their immigration status.
